The Me•gong Festival failed to kick start today as the organisers cancelled all the day’s performance due to adverse weather conditions.
The festival which was slated to begin in Jengjal, 30 km from Tura was cancelled as relentless rain and cold made it impossible for the organisers to go ahead with the scheduled programmes.
“Weather may have shifted our schedule, but the festival spirit stays strong! Day 1’s performances might be on pause, but the beats, bites, and buzz continue,” the organisers said as they assured to give festival goers an “unforgettable day 2 and 3 with electrifying music and non-stop fun.”
Artists scheduled for today will be performing on Friday and Saturday evening, the organisers said.
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh inaugurated the event that offered those that braved the rain indigenous food and local brews.
Late 1990s pop band Vengaboys, Indian rock band Parikrama and Armaan Malik are be part of the line-up.
