With the academic session for 2024-25 expected to start by the end of the month at the new PA Sangma International Medical College and Hospital at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), the state government is yet to complete certain procedures.
USTM has already gone ahead and announced 40 seats for local students and has made headlines after it has sought an interest-free loan of Rs 233 crore from Meghalaya.
Reacting to this development, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that there are certain procedures for setting up committees, identification of procedures for selection of seats and the sponsorship of the aspirants from the home state.
“All these procedural aspects, including reservation, sponsorship, etc, have to go to the cabinet and we will have to adopt all the procedures that will stand legal scrutiny,” Lyngdoh said.
