A polling team bound for 44/8 Jangrapara LP School of 44-Raksamgre Assembly Constituency met with an accident on the way at Photamati today.
West Garo Hills District Election Officer informed that prima facie, it appears that the vehicle overturned on the road.
“It is reported that there is serious facial and head injury to one polling official. Minor injuries have been reported for other polling officials and security personnel,” he said in a press release.
The injured were shifted to nearest hospital Tikrikilla CHC where two polling officers are being referred to a higher medical facility in Goalpara. All others were given the first aid treatment.
“All needed medical assistance is being provided to all the injured persons,” he added.
The DEO further informed that polling materials and EVM/VVPAT was secured by the concerned Sector Magistrate accompanied by the concerned Sector Police Officer in the presence of CAPF and was taken to the polling station, which is being guarded by CAPF so that transparency of the whole electoral process is ensured.
