East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Rituraj Ravi said today that police are thoroughly investigating the murders committed in Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh.
Four people have been arrested so far in connection with the crimes – three in the Ichamati double murder and one in the Mawlai Mawroh case.
All four are members of the Khasi Students Union, which has doubled down in support of them and accused the police of harassment and persecution.
Ravi countered this by saying that the police “are investigating in a completely professional manner.”
The perpetrators must be brought to book, he added, while urging “peace loving citizens” not to take law into their own hands. “Abide by law and cooperate with the police in these investigations,” he added.
