The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts for five districts in Meghalaya on Thursday.
South Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills, East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills are likely to experience thunderstorms with heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas.
The rest of the state will be under a yellow alert.
Weather forecasts are fluid, however, and the IMD may change its advice when it issues a new update tomorrow.
