St Dominic’s College, Shillong, successfully conducted a one day intra-departmental seminar on ‘Equality in Education is the key to Development and Growth in India’ here yesterday.
The seminar was organised by the college’s Departments of Education and Economics and was presided over by the principal, Smita Basu. College chairperson Robert Street was the chief guest and the key speakers were Prof Utpal Kumar De of NEHU’s Department of Economics and Ashok Kumar Erigala of NEHU’s Department of Education.
De spoke on ‘Education, Adaptation to Climate Change and Sustainability of Agriculture: Experience from North East India’, while Erigala spoke on ‘Equality and Equity of Education in India’.
The seminar was also attended by VR Rao and Masushumi Dey, the principal and former principal respectively of St John’s School, Whitehall, Shillong.
