Shillong, Oct 9: Pynthorumkhrah MLA Alexander Laloo Hek of the Bharatiya Janata Party has reacted negatively to Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar’s choice of words when speaking about the BJP legislator.
The row goes back a few days when Hek said that certain National People’s Party (NPP) members are willing to join the saffron party. Then, yesterday, the NPP’s Dhar said, “If I claim that your wife is my wife, how would you feel? This is only an example,” underscoring that a mere assertion does not turn it into fact.
Hek today acknowledged that Dhar’s statement was not directly aimed at him but his words will set a bad example to the young generation.
“What are we teaching our children? We have to be very careful before we speak,” Hek said, adding that to publicly use such language sends the wrong message to youngsters.
Meanwhile, on the statement by another Deputy CM – Prestone Tynsong – that Hek is only an MLA and not the BJP’s state president, the Pynthorumkhrah legislator said that he has not gone through the report even as he added that his assertion about possible moves by MLAs to leave the NPP for the BJP was only his personal opinion.
