National People’s Party (NPP) president and chief minister Conrad Sangma today said that party will take tough decisions, with regards to allotting party tickets for the upcoming elections, for the interest of the people.
“The party will look at all the angles and aspects for the upcoming election and these are not easy decisions. It is not simple to just decide and just move forward and not give a ticket to somebody,” he told reporters after the induction programme of former speaker AT Mondal.
While refusing to divulge anything relating to the NPP leaders who will not be getting the party ticket or prominent leaders who will join the party he said, “Let us not jump the gun right now. Let’s wait and see because what is important is that senior person like AT Mondal who has vast experience has joins us which will be a huge benefit for the party and people of the state as a whole.”
On TMC’s prediction that NPP will secure only 5-6 seats in Garo Hills, Sangma said, “Anybody can make any comments. And maybe the prediction is for the TMC itself and I don’t know if they will even touch that.”
He said elections cannot be predicted or taken for granted but hard work because opponents have to be taken seriously.
Meanwhile Sangma made it clear that he will be contesting from South Tura. He said there is no question of changing from South Tura.
“Any change which is to be done I will have to discuss with the party workers,” he said.
