Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem today expressed his full satisfaction with the progress of the Eklavya Model Residential School project at Pahamsyiem, Ri-Bhoi.
Syiem conducted a spot inspection in which he was accompanied by the Joint Director of School Education, VS Nongbet, Public Works Department Executive Engineer Mui Pyrbot and local leaders of Pahamsyiem. The land for the project was donated free of cost by Raid Nongpoh.
The Eklavya Model Residential Schools project is being funded by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs at the estimated cost of Rs 16 crore.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Syiem said that around 90 per cent of the work is complete and that, he hoped, the school would open soon for the benefit of students from the state.
Meanwhile, the MLA also inspected the dilapidated internal PWD road at Pahamsyiem. Work to improve it is likely to begin soon.
