A driver suffered severe injuries in a late night collision on Monday along National Highway 6, near the Ram Mandir in Nongpoh.
The incident occurred when a truck (ML 05Z 9460) hit the rear of a stationary Nagaland-registered truck (NL 01G 6729).
The collision took place at around 10pm. The Meghalaya-registered truck was on its way to Shillong and was being driven by one Rajendra Das (28) of Guwahati.
Feeling drowsy, Das failed to notice the stationary truck ahead, which had stopped due to a damaged tyre.

Nongpoh police and bystanders facilitated the extrication of Das from the wreckage and he was taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention.
