The North Eastern Hills University Students Union (NEHUSU) has called for a boycott of classes and will hold a protest march from the university library to the administrative block tomorrow.
NEHUSU Finance Secretary, Mandor Diengdoh Swer said the protest is against the “unjust and outdated absolute marking system that is obliterating the careers of students.”
The students will demand for the implementation of a relative grading system, which Swer said would “drastically improve the grades of the students.”
“We refuse the understanding that our students lack skills or capabilities to score high and we absolutely believe that low grades in NEHU is the product of the marking system that it follows which has nothing to do with one’s intelligence or academic excellence,” he said.
