Shillong, Oct 28: The District Agriculture Officer (DAO), West Garo Hills, has issued a clarification regarding the news report, “WGH farmer recognised by Modi”.
The report had highlighted Chekjing M. Sangma from Sadolpara village under Dadenggre block, who was appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Mann Ki Baat for his efforts in millet promotion.
The DAO clarified that Sangma is supported and facilitated by the DAO, Tura under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya and not ICAR-KVK.
He is a beneficiary under the NFSM scheme, and the supply of improved millet varieties and technical guidance was provided by field functionaries of the Agriculture Department.
