A five-day non-residential faculty development programme (FDP) is being organised by the newly-created Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), which began yesterday.
The centre is sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC) with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati serving as its nodal agency. The programme’s strategy for encouraging entrepreneurial spirit in the region is by strengthening the existing ecosystem and promoting and nurturing innovation and startups.
Commencing yesterday, the initiative attracted participation of faculty members from numerous higher education institutions in East Khasi Hills. Professionals from academia, industry and startups covering a broad spectrum of disciplines, including finance, technology, banking, planning, skill development, management, law and entrepreneurship, will contribute their invaluable insights and experiences to enrich the atmosphere of learning and participation.
In his welcome address, Dinesh Bhatia, Coordinator of the EDC, emphasised the need of such initiatives by the government and how it would help in nurturing and promoting the importance of such programmes for young minds and create a thriving ecosystem for the region and the state. He encouraged the attendees to expand the advantages of such government-sponsored initiatives to college drop-out students and unemployed youths in their respective institutes, promoting an entrepreneurial and empowering culture.
