Nambie Jessica Marak has secured the first runner-up position in the latest season of MasterChef India.
The grand finale of the show was telecasted today in which Mohammad Ashiq of Manglore was declared winner of Master Chef India Season 8.
Marak became the first from Meghalaya to participate in India’s biggest food reality show.
During the grand finale, the 4 finalists– Rukhsaar Sayeed, Mohammed Ashiq, Nambie Jessica and Suraj Thapa—were asked to create their signature dish and were given 90 minutes with an open pantry for their final dish.
Marak presented her last dish, which she calls ‘Square root’, she has brought all the roots on the plate with black rice puttu. She reveals how the dish is also an amalgamation of her love story. The judges are impressed with the presentation.
Marak, a school principal from Upper Rangsa in West Khasi Hills district, who looks forward to build her pickle business, also got a boost from one of the judges, Ranveer Brar, who during the show asked viewers to order her ginger pickle.
Known as the ‘Tribal Chef’, Marak with her culinary passion and determination has taken the state’s heritage, by infusing authentic flavours and ingredients into her creations, to the national platform.
