Spokesperson and vice-president of the state Congress Party has said that Meghalaya will pay a very high price if money becomes the sole criterion for winning elections.
Stating that this is what has started to happen in the state politics, he said, “If a party that does not have any policies, ideology and programme, but has the money, continues to win elections, then even God cannot help the state of Meghalaya.”
This corporatisation of business is why, Lyngdoh said, there have not been any policies introduced by the state government to ease the hardships of the common people with regards to basics such as healthcare, education and livelihood.
“What kind of state of affairs are we in where teachers have to sleep on the roads and agitate for their salaries? Our youth have no future and if our people are not educated and always bought during elections then even at our state’s centenary we will remain regressive,” he said.
