Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla inspected the water reservoir of the PHE at Urkhla Khimusniang area yesterday.
Shylla personally assessed the water supply and ensured that filtration processes were being conducted efficiently, affirming that there were no issues in the supply of water from the tank.
He interacted with the officials to gather feedback on the water supply situation and personally inspected the quality of drinking water.
Recently, residents of Jowai have complained of water that is unfit for consumption, posing severe health risks to the community and holding the debris dumped in the Wah Myntdu from a road project responsible for muddy water being supplied through taps.
PHE officials told the MLA that heavy rainfall and dumping of mud and debris from the construction of the byepass were the reasons for muddy water.
Shylla suggested the PHE to upgrade the water pump to ensure a reliable and resilient water supply for residents.
He later inspected the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Jowai damaged by the recent cyclone and instructed the PWD to speed up repairs.
