Police have arrested three men on suspicion of being involved in a brutal sexual assault of a minor girl in Risa Colony forest.
The incident took place on June 3 after a minor girl and an 18-year-old male had gone for a walk in the forest that evening when they came across three persons. The miscreants threatened them and demanded they pay a fine. Two of the suspects assaulted the male, forced them both to strip naked and robbed them of their belongings.
The male victim tried to negotiate with the duo’s captors, appealing to them to release the girl but to no avail. He was then able to slip free and ran towards nearby residences for help. At some point the three assailants sexually assaulted the girl.
Police were informed of the incident by the Secretary of the Risa Colony Dorbar Shnong.
A case has been registered at Laitumkhrah police station and on Wednesday two suspects were identified and arrested in Khliehshnong, Malki. The third suspect was also arrested today, police said in a release.
