Union MoS for Women & Child development and Ayush Dr. Mahendra Munjpara today visited South West Khasi Hills district and held a review meeting with district heads at Mawkyrwat on the successful implementation of central schemes and flagship programmes.
At the meeting the minister reviewed the implementation of schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes (MGNREGS), Health, Roads, Swaach Bharat Mission (SBM), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janasi Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK) and other schemes.
While discussing on the issues and challenges faced by the district in implementing the schemes, the minister suggested ways and means for improvement of health-care in the district.
Dr. Munjpara noted the health scenario in the district and advised that exercises, regular checking of Blood Sugar for diabetic patients should be encouraged and promoted. He laid stress on Yoga to curb addiction, mental stress, depression and various other diseases.
He was also of view that central schemes should be completed within the specific period and directed that notice should be served to contractors in case of delay so that the speedy progress and successful implementation of the projects is not disrupted or hampered.
The minister further urged officials of the district to put in their extra efforts and dedicate their their service towards progress and over all development of the area.
Dr Munjpara also visited the One Stop Center and Ayush Hospital, Aganwadi Centre and handed over work order under MGNREGS for construction of the road from Mawbah to Eitser at Mawlangwir village at Rs. 9.67 lakh and Pung Amrit Sarovar at Rs. 9.20 lakh at Rangmaw village.
South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Tableland Lyngwa and heads of various departments were present during the meeting.
