‘Minds Sanctuary’ or Music Academy was inaugurated at Dilma A.pal, Mendipathar in Resubelpara aimed to provide comfort to all those in need of good spirits through musical experiences along with learning of music as the main form of instruction.
Mendipathar MLA, Marthon J Sangma inaugurated the academy yesterday in the presence of West Garo Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dolrich BG Momin and legendary singer Browny R Marak.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony Sangma said Minds Sanctuary will be an asset for the people of the area including young and old that would serves as an academy for nurturing the interest of music enthusiasts as well as provide platform for them to take music to a professional level.
He said there are many people with talents for music but absence of platforms often led those talents to be wasted. However, Sangma was hopeful that with functioning of the academy those talents would be identified, groomed and given perspective.
Sangma further sought coordination from the gathering for the effectiveness of the academy while assuring maximum support from his side.
Momin said the academy is an opportunity for the local people to equip themselves with the art of music while the facility is being provided”. He highlighted the various professional aspects of music and motivated youth to take the opportunity and make the best use of the academy.
Director of Minds Sanctuary, Tengrang R Sangma expressed gratitude to the people of the locality for supporting the need for the coming of the academy. He said the aim of the academy was to provide base and hone the skills of the music interested individuals.
Acknowledging that the youths have potentials for various forms of music, the Director stated that Minds Sanctuary would educate and uplift the area for further growth and development.
Affiliated to Trinity College of Music, London, enrolment at the academy has no age, he said, adding, that this year on June 21 World Music Day will be celebrated beside holding of music workshop.
