Shillong, Oct 11: In a major breakthrough in the murder of a 13-year-old girl in Ri-Bhoi district, one person has been arrested for his involvement in the crime.
Police confirmed that the 22-year-old accused has been apprehended on the intervening night of October 10 and 11.
“He admitted that he murdered the child. Legal formalities (are) being completed,” Ri-Bhoi district, Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Rathore said.
The girl went missing around 10.30 am after returning home from school on Thursday, and her body was recovered at 7.20 pm.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
