NEIGRIHMS organised IAMLECON 2023, which concluded here yesterday with around 300 delegates from around the country and abroad taking part.
The four-day event was organised by NEIGRIHMS’ Department of Forensic Medicine. Twenty-three states and five different countries were represented at the academic event that was meant to enrich the knowledge in the multi-perspective approach towards forensic medicine and forensic science. The theme of the conference was ‘Forensic medicine – beyond the stigma of autopsy practice’.
The first day was the pre-conference workshop which had four sessions – Virtopsy (autopsy using MRI, etc), Toxicology, Crime Scene Management and Forensic Nursing.
More than 100 delegates participated in each of the workshops and were able to get practical understanding of the concepts discussed and hands-on experience. The sessions were conducted by eminent people in their respective fields across the country and beyond.
After a break on Friday, the final two days were dedicated to scientific sessions and words of wisdom from the guest speakers. All the scientific sessions were chaired by persons who have left their footprint in those respective walks of forensic medicine, forensic science and law.
During the event, a lifetime achievement award was bestowed upon Dr Shiv Rattan Kochar from SKGMC, Rajasthan, and fellowships were awarded to Prof Aurelio Luna of Spain, Prof Bikash Medhi from PGI Chandigarh, Prof Venkata Raghava from BMC & RI Bangalore and Dr Raghvendra Kumar Vidua from AIIMS Bhopal for their extraordinary achievements in their fields.
here were also more than 40 e-poster and 60 oral presentations from the medical and non-medical undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Prizes were awarded to the three best oral and three best poster presentations.
