The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a right-wing students’ organisation, recently conducted an inspection of the hostel facilities at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) School in Mahendraganj, South West Garo Hills, and found to be in a “distressing state of affairs”.
Infrastructure is in “deplorable condition – old, broken and poorly maintained. The environment was unclean and unhygienic, especially the mess facilities responsible for providing food to the hostellers,” it said in a press release today.
Upon querying the school principal, there was “a distinct lack of satisfactory response”, though he assured of ongoing repairs.
The ABVP unit issued a one month ultimatum to the school authorities to repair the broken infrastructure and implement stringent measures to ensure proper maintenance.
