Shillong, Nov 19: Hundreds of people, including school children joined a public rally called by the Joint Action Movement of Mawkynrew Constituency (JAMMC) to condemn the alleged murder of one Bhim Sing Lyngdoh Nongbri.
Nongbri, a resident of Madan Langning, Mawpyrshong was reportedly murdered by one Libokstar Suting on November 9 in full public view. The accused surrendered to Madanrting Police Station the same day.
Speakers at the rally recounted how the victim was allegedly dragged out of his home and killed, even as his 20-year-old daughter watched helplessly. His son also sustained injuries on his hand while trying to save his father.
JAMMC leaders stated that the committee stands with the family and will ensure authorities follow up the case. Others demanded the harshest punishment for the accused and urged the government to support the victim’s family of 12 children.
The participants at the rally sought justice for the victim’s family and thorough inquiry in the matter.
