The court of Swapna G. Momin, Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills on April 30 convicted one Tipborlang Rynjah for sexual assault on a minor.
Rynjah was found guilty under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act read with Section 376AB/506 of the IPC. He received punishment of rigorous imprisonment for 20 years and a fine of Rs. 15,000. In default he has to undergo simple imprisonment for another three months.
For the offence committed under section 376AB IPC, the convicted felon received rigorous Imprisonment for a period of 20 and fine of Rs. 15,000 and in default to undergo simple imprisonment for another three months.
The case lodged at Pynursla police station was investigated by un-armed branch sub inspector, George Dkhar (Pre step Investigation Officer), woman police sub inspectors, Shidarisha Kharsati (Second Investigating Officer) and W. Khongsit (Third Investigating Officer) presently posted at Women Police Station, Ri-Bhoi district Nongpoh.
