Mawkyrwat, Nov 17: A man has been arrested and remanded to custody over an allegation that he raped the 10-year-old daughter of his wife.
Police informed that a written complaint was received on November 13 from a 27-year-old woman in South West Khasi Hills, to the effect that her husband had raped and threatened her daughter in July. It is unclear from the information received whether the accused is the girl’s natural father or stepfather.
A cognisable case was registered under relevant section of the law and the man was arrested on November 14 and forwarded to the court in Mawkyrwat. The victim was sent for a medical examination and statements were taken from her, the complainant and witnesses.
