The East Jaiñtia Limestone Supplier Association and East Jaiñtia Truck Owner Transporters Association have together formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to check overloading to trucks along the national highway 6.
Leaders of the two associations met today to discuss on the atrocious conditions of the national highway and held overloaded trucks responsible for the pothole-ridden road.
Publicity secretary of the JAC, Soomeyoo SNS Sayoo said the committee has decided to put a check on overloading from May 22 from 10 am. He said and violators will be handed over to authorities to take legal action.
The bustling highway, which also connects Assam, Manipur and Tripura have long been marred by the deplorable condition of the road that has not only become an eyesore but also a constant hazard for vehicles and pedestrians alike.
The JAC will be led by Love-You Bareh other office bearers and 18 members.
