The family of a woman, who was allegedly threatened by a trader at Umdohlun weekly market, stood by her testament stating that the accused unknown to her had threatened to kill her will a hammer.
Joseph Paliar of Pyndengrei-Mawkhmahwir, Nongstoiñ was recently arrested and released on bail after one Etissiia Paliar of Umdohlun lodged a FIR with South West Khasi Hills police.
The accused had claimed that the woman clicked a picture of him without his consent and threatened to break her phone and not her live. However, the family said, “She took the accused photo after she was threatened by him so that we can deal with this man lawfully.”
The family raised concerns that a trader, who sells sandals at the weekly market is in possession of a hammer by his side. “This is not acceptable. We will follow up on this matter and expect a fair trial so that this kind of incident does not happen to others,” the family said.
