The Grand Finale of the Don Bosco Media Network TV’s “Sur Kynud Niam – Season 2” concluded yesterday at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah here showcasing the exceptional talents of children, youth, and adults from Meghalaya.
The Khasi religious song competition saw 47 initial contestants selected during the Blind Audition. Ten finalists competed fiercely for the top honours.
Kit Kupar Nongsiej emerged victorious, claiming the first prize of Rs 35,000, while Franky Nongbri secured second place with Rs 15,000 and Tia Vanezza Kurbah took home Rs 5,000 for third place.
The event was graced by Ronnie Wahlang, Additional Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, who commended the participants for their outstanding performances and encouraged youth to cultivate their talents further.
In his speech, Wahlang applauded the dedication of Rev Fr Michael Makri, Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre and Managing Director of Don Bosco Media Network in nurturing the talents of young people, elevating the centre to international standards.
Father Makri, in turn, thanked the Salesian Society specially the Provincial and his councillors both in the past and the present for their unwavering support in fostering youth development through such initiatives.
In his speech he said that the purpose of conducting such a programme is to engage the youth in positive activities and to stay away from all the evils in society and to give them a platform to bring out their talents.
The event concluded with celebrations and accolades, marking a significant milestone in promoting musical talent among Meghalaya’s youth.
