The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has set up a committee to look into the safety and security of people at the Ïewduh market and its six adjoining localities.
In a notification issued on August 31, the KHADC constituted a 19-member ‘Committee on Cleanliness, Security and Unlawful Activities’ headed by Chief Executive Member Pyniaid Sing Syiem as chairman and KHADC Deputy Secretary A L Basaiawmoit as member secretary.
According to the notification, the committee will oversee the overall cleanliness, security and checking unlawful activities within Ïewduh and its adjoining areas. The committee will meet once a month to assess the matter.
From the KHADC, the members of the committee include Executive Member (Markets) Grace Mary Kharpuri, Executive Member (Health and Sanitation) Victor Ranee, Executive Member (Development) Carness Sohshang.
From the East Khasi Hills district administration, the members are Additional District Magistrate Ronnie Wahlang and Sector Officer Bipul Das.
The Hima Mylliem is represented by the Syiem of Mylliem Ainam Manik Syiem and two Myntris – Midnight Born Kharlukhi and Kephas Langstieh.
Further, the committee has representations from headmen of localities around Ïewduh. They include Arwan Sing Tariang (Rangbah Shnong, Mawkhar), T Dkhar (Rangbah Shnong, Umsohsun), Tawny Borne War (Assistant Rangbah Shnong, Mission Compound), Jop Rymbai (Rangbah Shnong, Wahthapbru), Joseph R. Warjri (General Secretary, Qualapatty), Mariahom Kharkrang (Rangbah Shnong, Riatsamthiah) and R Marbaniang (Rangbah Shnong, Wahingdoh).
The committee also consists of Hynñiewtrep Ïewduh Association president Korbar Lyngdoh Nonglait and vice president Mary Victoria Marwein.
