The Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) established a new unit on Saturday for Moobakhon-Sehlama in West Jaiñtia Hills.
The ceremony was presided over by H Lyngdoh, the JNC Western Zone general secretary, alongside Mebanteilang Sukhlaiñ, the JNC publicity secretary, Nangjan Dkhar, the JNC vice-president, and Hamehi Bamon, the JNC Western Zone president. The oath-taking for the new members was conducted by Sambormi Lyngdoh, the JNC president.
Lyngdoh echoed the sentiments of the late Prof Barrister Pakem, a founding leader of ‘ka seiñ ktieñ Wei thoh Jaiñtia’ from the late 1970s, whose core mission was encapsulated in the phrase ‘Im i ktieñ-Im ka Jaidbru,’ signifying that a living language ensures the survival of our tribes. The JNC President also urged the newly appointed office bearers to remain vigilant regarding the significant influx of individuals, particularly from Bangladesh.
The new unit will be led by president Rikus Lamare, vice-president Pynshai Shylla and general secretary Lereson Kynjing. Nine other secretaries and 11 members were also inducted.
