A one-month-old baby girl became the latest Covid-related fatality in Meghalaya, the Health Department informed today.
The infant was born to Risuklin Kharkongor of Jyntah village, East Khasi Hills. Both mother and baby tested positive for Covid-19 after their admission to Ganesh Das Hospital in Shillong on February 5. Tragically, the baby died yesterday morning of febrile convulsion.
This was the 122nd death related to the disease in East Khasi Hills and 148th overall for Meghalaya. There was also one new infection and three recoveries reported today, all in East Khasi Hills.
In all, Meghalaya has had 13,886 Covid-19 cases, of which 134 are active, 13,604 have recovered and 148 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 97.97 per cent.
The fatality rate has increased to 1.07 percent. There were also around 850 Covid tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
The Health Department also informed that 7,494 healthcare workers have so far received the Covid-19 vaccine so far.
