The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts for three districts in Garo Hills, with predictions of heavy rainfall in these areas on Wednesday.
The three districts are West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills. Areas within these districts could face heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning storms. The rest of the state will remain under a yellow alert.
Today, the areas around Mawsynram and Sohra in East Khasi Hills and Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills saw the heaviest rainfall. Sohra alone received rainfall in excess of 114mm.
