ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ri-Bhoi organised a training programme and distributed piglets and pig feed to farmers of the district at Thadnongiaw village at Umiam today.
The training programme was on integrated fish farming and was held under the technology demonstration component of the National Innovation on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project, which is being implemented by ICAR-KVK Ri-Bhoi at Thadnongiaw village in Bhoirymbong block.
Speaking on the occasion, M Mokidul Islam, head of the KVK, highlighted the initiatives of the KVK with respect to the NICRA project and handed over the piglets to selected farmers of Ri-Bhoi.
Bankitkupar Mukhim, an expert on fish farming, gave an elaborate and thorough lecture on how to gain maximum benefit through integrated fish farming by incorporating different kinds of livestock and crops with fisheries, which will minimise the cost of production.
Eighteen farmers from Thadnongiaw village were present at the event during which 18 piglets were distributed to the farmers along with 800kg of pig feed.
