Members of the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) in Ri Bhoi, led by its district president Jayson Lennox Nongrum today resigned from the group following an alleged brawl with a central leader recently.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in Umling. According to the district unit the HYC central vice president, Donboklang Kharlyngdoh had assaulted Nongrum on January 12.
Nongrum said the reason was not just about the assault, but infightings within the group, which could have been settled. “He (Kharlyngdoh) instead chose to assault with no reasons during a central executive committee meeting,” he added.
He said all the district members including those from the circle felt that Kharlyngdoh should also resign as the vice president of the HYC.
