The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has alleged that there are several ghost workers and casual labour who are working as officiating staff in the Health Department in Ri-Bhoi.
HITO claimed that such appointments are occurring while eligible unemployed youth continue to suffer.
Based on an RTI finding from October this year from the District Medical and Health Officer of Ri-Bhoi, HITO said that a staff nurse who resigned in August 2021 and is now currently working at Umtrai PHC, her name still appears as an officiate. It alleged a similar case where an officiate as ANM at Mawlein sub-centre, who resigned in 2020 and is now working at Lyngkhoi, still appears as an officiate.
The pressure group also uncovered so-called ghost names that are listed as staff but which are absent in reality.
“We will file an FIR based on the RTI findings and we want to know who are drawing the funds that come for the casual, RCW (regular casual worker) and officiating staff,” HITO said adding that they will also file complaints with the Deputy Commissioner and the DMHO and see that they straighten the matter within a week.
