In an effort to combat against severe diseases in children from birth to18 years of age, the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with Rashtriya Bal SwasthyaKaryakram (RBSK), Khliehriat and District Early Intervention Centre, Jowai today organised a health screening camp cum awareness on the 4Ds (Defect at Birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, Developmental Delays & Disabilities) in Khliehriat West Community Hall.
The programme was attended by District Medical & Health Officer Dr D. Shylla in the presence of Programme Manager, District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), Jowai, Dr Handaka L. Suting, District Programme Manager, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Daphihi Passah, health team from Bansara Eye Care and ENT team from Jowai, people of the area and others.
Dr Shylla in his address lauded the initiative taken by RBSK and District Early Intervention Centre and called on the people to take advantage of the health services provided by bringing their children for medical check-ups.
Dr Suting in her speech during the programme highlighted the gathering on the health services provided by the DEIC, Jowai even as she urged parents gathered at the programme to register their children in order to get access to the treatment support rendered by the DEIC.
It was also informed by the health officials that the initiative aims to improve the health condition of children by providing early detection and treatment and to register those who have never been to the District Early Intervention Centre.
