Shillong, Sep 16: Two Assam residents were arrested after East Jaintia Hills Police seized 2,244 bottles of codeine-laced Vincof-Plus cough syrup in a midnight operation on NH-6.
The two vehicles, headed to Silchar, were intercepted at Umkiang Patrol Post under Lumshnong PS on last night.
The accused, Sanjib Kumar Kanu and Saidul Islam Barbhuya, were caught with the syrup concealed in 15 carton boxes, police said.
