Shillong, Sep 8: The Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills has convicted one Shap Lamurong in a POCSO case and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for life.
According to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police, the case was registered at Khliehriat Women PS under Sections 5(l)/5(m)/5(n)/6/9(n)/10 of POCSO Act and investigated by WPSI L. Siangshai.
The accused was arrested and a charge-sheet was filed against him on April 12, 2024.
During trial, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life with fine of Rs 50,000 and seven years with fine of Rs 25,000.
