Members of the Garo community from Meghalaya and Assam held a candlelight vigil on the interstate boundary between Meghalaya and Assam at Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi to register their angst over the mysterious death of Rose and Samuel Sangma in Haryana recently.
Rose and her nephew Samuel died in mysterious circumstances in Gurugram, leaving their family, the Garo community and the North East disturbed.
The candlelight vigil was organised by the All Assam Garo Students Union, led by its vice-president, Rajesh Sangma, and Redminton Sangma, general secretary, Chetatkin Marak, president of Border Development Committee, Nabison Kro, and headmen both of Ampher village from Assam and Meghalaya.
The attendees demanded that the governments of Assam and Meghalaya take serious note and press for a thorough inquiry to reveal the truth about the deaths.
