Futsal playgrounds funded under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Fund for East Jaintia Hills were today inaugurated by cabinet minister and local MLA Kyrmen Shylla in Khliehriat West and Khliehriat East.
Also present at the opening of the former were East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner A Baranwal, Rymbai Khliehriat MDC Finelyness Bareh, traditional heads, members of Khliehriat West Sports Club and people of the area.
Kyrmen informed the gathering that, in the first phase of the project, five futsal grounds are being constructed, including the two opened today.
The minister also announced that he has allocated Rs 5 lakh from the MLA scheme to fence the Khliehriat West football ground.
At the Khliehriat East programme, Sutnga Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla, the DC, traditional heads and local residents were present. A parking lot was also inaugurated at the same time.
