Meghalaya recorded four more deaths of Covid-19 positive patients today, taking the total number of fatalities to 51, of which 41 were recorded this month alone.
All four cases were recorded in East Khasi Hills.
Director of Health Services Dr Aman War informed that the four were Donia Khyriem, Md Salim, Dran Lyngkhoi and Minati Chakravarti. Salim was positive for coronavirus but his cause of death has yet to be ascertained.
Khyriem (59), of Mawkhriah village, was admitted to H Gordon Roberts Hospital on September 18 and died on Monday at around 1:15am. The cause of death was Covid-19 with acute respiratory distress syndrome, stroke and intra-cerebral haemorrhage.
Salim (71), of Mawbah, died at Nazareth Hospital at around 1:40am today. Lyngkhoi (68), of Smit, died at Shillong Civil Hospital 40 minutes later. He was a cancer patient and was admitted on September 25. He was shifted to the Covid-19 unit on Sunday after testing positive for the virus and died due to cancer with Covid-19.
Chakravarti (74), of Laban Last Stop, was declared brought dead at around 3:05am in Bethany Hospital after she was brought in an unresponsive state. Her samples were taken and tested positive. She had co-morbidities like Type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
