Rev Ravi Tiwari, former Principal of the John Roberts Theological Seminary (now College) at Mawklot, passed away today morning.
Rev Tiwari was undergoing hospital treatment in Lucknow when he died.
A young science graduate who later became a professor of philosophy, religions and theology received the Templeton Award in 2001 for devising a course in religion and science.
Among many responsibilities held, he was the Principal in Mawklot between 1994 and 97 and then Registrar of Serampore University in 2004-2013.
As a teacher and mentor he has guided many MTh, Research and Doctoral students and his passing away has left a great void in the academic, ministry and spirituality traditions of Serampore University and he will always be remembered as a scholar and loving teacher of religions, especially Hinduism.
