The National Law University Meghalaya inaugurated its first ‘Moot Court’ competition, organised in collaboration with National Human Rights Commission in its campus in Shillong.
The competition drew law students nationwide, spotlighting high-level debates on crucial human right issues. It showcased national participation and aimed to sharpen students’ advocacy skills through challenging moot problems, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and advocacy for human rights.
The event was managed under the leadership of Yogesh Mishra, Faculty Convenor of the Moot Court Society.
Meghalaya Advocate General, Amit Kumar who attended the event as the chief guest emphasised on legal education’s role in human rights.
NHRC Registrar (Law), Surajit Dey shared insights on the commission’s justice efforts along with Arnold Nongbri, Superintendent of the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission.
NLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Indrajit Dube and Registrar Kerpa M. Lyngdoh Nongbri were also present at the event.
