A fire accident occurred at Kensohsan village, South West Khasi Hills district at around 11:30 am today.
The fire engulfed the thatched house that belonged to Debora Thongni and Twinkle Pahsyntiew.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but about 18 quintals of broom grass and Rs 50,000 cash and other items turned to ash.
The family said the loss is estimated at Rs 2 lakh.
