Human skeletal remains were discovered from Photstew village in Mawkyrwat.
According to South West Khasi Hills police in a press release today, a telephonic information was received from villagers that the remains of an unknown person was seen at the area, which is about 500 meters from Mawlangwir-Mawkyrwat road on January 29.
Police promptly responded and confirmed that the skeletal remains, found inside a rock, was that of a human.
Based on the documents found at the scene, which included a driving license, EPIC and Aadhaar card, police identified the remains as those of Shanborlang Lyngdoh Marshillong, a man who had been missing since March 26, 2024 from Nonglang village.
Further investigations are ongoing.
