‘Rimpu Bagan videos’ has now given the National People’s Party (NPP) a reason to pose moral questions to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for fielding Bernard Marak to contest the upcoming assembly elections from South Tura.
NPP state president, Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi stated that everyone have seen the videos on what happened at the Rimpu Bagan farmhouse owned by Marak. “We have seen in the video and I have nothing to say. If that Bagan is for that, then I don’t know what type of MLA they (BJP) are putting up,” he questioned.
Indirectly touching on morality he questioned, “When he becomes an MLA, a minister then do you want the whole of Shillong to be like that place?”
Marak was recently released on bail after spending more than three months in jail in a gamut of cases lodged against him by the Meghalaya police. The farmhouse was termed a ‘brothel’ for the purpose of prostitution by the police.
The NPP president also said that Marak contesting against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is no threat to the NPP, and if it is so, he will not fight the election.
To a question on the challenge put up by BJP telling the Chief Minister to contest only from one seat, Kharlukhi reiterated “The BJP is a toothless tiger. They just talk but do nothing. I don’t take them seriously.”
