The East Khasi Hills District Magistrate (DM) has asked residents to mandatorily follow child adoption procedure laid down by the Adoption Regulation, 2022.
According to the regulation, all adoption must be processed through the District Magistrate, the Specialized Adoption Agencies and the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO).
“It is crucial to note that any adoption carried out without obtaining an official Adoption Order from the District Magistrate as per the Adoption Regulation, 2022 will be considered illegal and void,” the DM said.
For information or assistance regarding the adoption process one can approach the office of the District Magistrate and the District Child Protection Officer.
