The Education Department yesterday held an event to commemorate the achievements of the government on the education front.
The function was graced by the presence of Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Commissioner & Secretary of Education BDR Tiwari, Secretary of Education Ambrose Ch Marak, Director of DERT CD Lyngwa, Director of DSEL RM Kurbah and Additional Project Director of CLLMP-MBMA, Gunanka DB.
Hundreds of mid-day meal cooks-cum-helpers and school students along with other government officials were also present.
One of the achievements celebrated was the increase in the state government’s honorarium for mid-day meal cooks to Rs 2,000 per month from the current Rs 1,000 per month, which was a long-pending demand of the cooks.
The minister highlighted the incremental improvement of the education scenario in the state by highlighting certain issues addressed by the government such as the approval for setting up of government colleges across the state, the improvements in PGI score, the increase of salaries of ad hoc teachers and pre-primary teachers, the increase in honorarium of MDM cooks, etc.
