An extra challenge is testing the people living along the Baridua to Umsen stretch in Ri-Bhoi, namely earth cutting that has left the road a muddy mess, with the slushy soil ending up in people’s shops and homes too.
The road connecting Baridua to Umsen has been newly blacktopped but people of several villages along the stretch have suffered due to uncontrolled earth cutting that has contaminated the road with the muddy soil.
Heavy rain over the last few days has even carried this soil onto private property.
