The Dorbar Shnong Nongsohphoh Upper Mawprem has reiterated its support for its Secretary, Hardy Ryntathiang, who has been accused of molesting a woman who, in turn, is suspected of being a drug dealer.
The dorbar held an emergency meeting on Thursday in the presence of members of the Seng Longkmie and Seng Samla to condemn the FIR filed against Ryntathiang by the woman.
The complaint was filed with Lumdiengjri police on August 21.
Ryntathiang has already received support from these bodies as well as at least two pressure groups. The Seng Longkmie had previously stated that the woman complainant was detained by members of the dorbar on August 17 for suspected drug dealing.
It was during this time that the woman claimed that Ryntathiang had outraged her modesty.
In the meeting, the dorbar resolved that the FIR, though it is against Ryntathiang specifically, is “considered an attack on the entire Dorbar Shnong Nongsohphoh Upper Mawprem” and is nothing more than a tit-for-tat after the woman was named as a drug peddler.
“The dorbar shnong is certain that the FIR is baseless and filed with an ulterior motive not only to tarnish the image of the secretary of the dorbar shnong but the entire Dorbar Shnong Nongsohphoh Upper Mawprem,” a press release issued today said.
It added that the dorbar shnong has issued a “stern warning” to anyone having dealings with the woman and any others “who have made baseless allegations” against the secretary and the dorbar shnong.
